The goal of The Line Edit is to polish your prose. Here, we will focus exclusively on your authorial voice, language and word choice, phrasing, tense, point of view, filler words, showing versus telling, and making every sentence sing!
I will read your draft in Microsoft Word, use Track Changes to make changes throughout the manuscript, and use the Comments feature to leave you questions, comments, and feedback.
Although some grammatical issues may be corrected in the process of The Line Edit, this service does not include any copyediting.
How It Works
When you reach out to me, I will send you a client welcome packet and questionnaire where you can share the first 1500 words of your manuscript.
Once you have submitted the questionnaire and I have had a chance to review it and perform a sample edit on the first 1500 words, I will send you a quote for the service.
If the quote is agreeable, you will sign and return it to me along with your full manuscript saved as a Word document. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is due at time of booking.
Once I receive your manuscript, I will get to work sharpening your sentences while maintaining your unique voice and writing style. This will include comments, in-line edits, and more! I will also create an abbreviated Style Sheet for you that includes names, dates, spelling, and more. After I have read your manuscript in full and completed my line edit, I will write up a Cover Letter for you detailing my suggestions, questions, and changes.
At the time of completion, I will send you a final invoice via email. Upon final payment, I will deliver your completed Line Edit, Style Sheet, and Cover Letter.
